ASANA

Yoga practice originated in India about 5000 years ago. Ashtanga yoga are the eight limbs of yoga as described by Patanjali in his Yoga Sutras.

The eight limbs of yoga are: yama (behaviour), niyama (discipline), asana (bodily positions), pranayama (breath control), pratyahara (inner awareness), dharana (preparation for meditation), dhyana (meditation) and samadhi (self-realisation).

Asanas are various bodily poses that encourages the yoga student to cultivate awareness and relaxation. Each pose can bring benefits if done correctly and under proper guidance.

Asanas can contribute to the development and maintenance of good health by increasing strength and flexibility.
